Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
Certified Nurse Assistant Classes allow those whose complete the courses the opportunity to register with the NC Board of Nursing.
Certified Nurse Assistant I
Upon successful completion, student will be eligible to apply for the state exam to be listed on the DHSR CNA I Registry.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of the Career Readiness test or documentation of placement into English 111 or completion of Reading 090 or DRE 98 is required for entry of the CNA Program. Required for registration
Documents required for registration include:
- Current US government issued
- Signature bearing photo ID
- GED or high school diploma
Current high school seniors may register with documentation from the high school verifying senior status. Current high school seniors are exempt from the prerequisites. All verifying documents must be submitted to Angie Rice anrice@cvcc.edu on the East Campus at least one week prior to class start date.
Computers
Computers are utilized for this course. All material for the course will be accessible through the internet via Blackboard. In the event of school closure, the computer should have access to a microphone and webcam. Upon registration to the nurse aide program, students are assigned a CVCC email address. Communication between student, instructor, and other college personnel should be done through CVCC email. Students should read CVCC emails daily and check Blackboard for announcements/assignments.

Certified Nurse Assistant II
The CNA II program provides training in more complex skills for working with patients or residents regardless of the setting. Persons successfully completing the course may register with the NC Board of Nursing for certification.
Required to registration
High School diploma or GED, certificate of completion of a NC State approved Nurse Aide I program, be listed on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry in good standing, and driver’s license or US government-issued photo ID. All verifying documents must be submitted to Angie Rice anrice@cvcc.edu on the East Campus at least one week prior to class start date.
Cost to registration is $294.25. Textbook and program manual required.
All enrollments must be pre-registered and pre-paid.

Certified Nurse Assistant II Refresher
REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO REGISTRATION
Items must be submitted to the East Campus Registration office in person or by fax at 828-322-5455, Attention: CNA Refresher Registration Office.
- High school diploma/GED
- Driver’s license
- CNA I certificate/registry
- CNA II expired registry

Wrist Watch - $30.00 (Must have a second hand - to be used in lab)
Stethoscope - $30.00 (Used for hearing stomach and lung sound)
Bandage scissors - $7.00 (Used for cutting dressings in wound care)

Medication Aide
Upon successful completion, students can apply for the NC State Competency Medication Aide exam.
This class is designed for Medication Aide training to work in an Assisted Living Facility.
Required at registration
Current US government issued, signature-bearing photo-ID, high school diploma or GED, certificate of completion of a NC state-approved Nurse Aide I program and be listed on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry with no substantiated findings.
Costs include $125 registration fee plus $1.25 insurance fee. $5 Technology fee. Textbook and other supplies required.
All enrollments must be pre-registered and pre-paid.
