Phlebotomy prepares students for a career working in healthcare and lab settings drawing and processing blood. Students will practice sticking techniques on each other in class.
The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Funds Scholarship is available for this program.
Learn the proper techniques for performing venipuncture and skin puncture. Students will practice sticking technique on one another in class. After successful completion of the class and lab portion of class, students will be assigned a 40-hour (1 week) clinical rotation. Second shift clinical sites are very limited.
Successful completion of the Career Readiness test or documentation of placement into English 111 or completion of Reading 090 or DRE 98 is required for entry of the CNA Program. The total registration cost of the class will be $309.25. A textbook will be required. There is an additional fee to register for ASPT exam. The itemized registration expenses are as follows:
- Registration fee - $180
- CPR - $10
- Insurance - $19.25
- Lab fee - $95
- Technology fee - $5
All enrollments must be pre-registered and all fees (tuition, lab and insurance) pre-paid.
Note: This is a hybrid class. The first day of the June 14-November 1, 2021 East Campus class will meet vitually and will start meeting on campus on June 21, 2021. The first day of the June 14-November 1, 2021 Alexander Campus class will meet vitually and will start meeting on campus June 23-September 29, 2021. Clinical rotations will be October 1-October 29, 2021. Class will meet on the last day, November 1, 2021, to turn in clinical paperwork.
