Phlebotomy
Phlebotomy prepares students for a career working in healthcare and lab settings drawing and processing blood. Students will practice sticking techniques on each other in class.

REGISTRATION
Please register for the class to hold your seat! We accept the first 20 students for the Hickory/Main Campus and the first 10 students at the Alexander Campus.
If your class is not yet on the schedule, please email coned@cvcc.edu with the class you would like to register for, the location and the dates. They will hold your seat and email you registration instructions when it opens!
Phlebotomy: Learn the proper techniques for performing venipuncture and skin puncture. Students will practice sticking technique on one another in class. After successful completion of the class and lab portion of class, students will be assigned a 40-hour (1 week) clinical rotation. First shift clinical sites are used.
On our Hickory campus, the phlebotomy classroom is located in the Cuylar A. Dunbar (CAD) building, Room 148. On our Alexander campus, the class meets in the Alexander Applied Technology Center.
PREREQUISITES
Students must be 18 prior to the class start date.
Note: Many employers will also require a GED or high school diploma.
COSTS
Please see the cost below. A textbook will also be required. There is an additional fee to register for ASPT exam. The itemized registration expenses are as follows:
- Registration fee $180
- CPR $15
- Liability insurance $20.00
- Accident insurance $1.25
- Lab fee $95
- Technology fee $5
- Total cost due at registration $316.25
All enrollments must be pre-registered and all fees (tuition, lab and insurance) pre-paid.
