Basic Rider Course
The Basic RiderCourse is designed for beginner riders 16 years of age and older. According to the BRC website, more than 8 million motorcyclists nationwide have graduated from a RiderCourse since 1974. Including in the program is five hours of classroom instruction/online training before attending the first formal classroom session and 13 hours of riding and 3 hours of E-Course. Motorcycles are included in the price of registration.
Topics include the different type of motorcycles, layout and operation of the basic controls, and how to become a safer, more responsible rider. Our certified instructors will guide you through the basic skills of stopping, shifting, straight line riding, turning, and teaching you emergency braking.
COST & LOCATION
Classes will be held at the CVCC Public Safety Training Center located on Sweetwater Road in Hickory. The cost of this class is $215. Upon completion the student will receive a waiver which exempts the driving portion at DMV. Written portion is still required at DMV. No permit required to take class - valid drivers license required.
