CVCC to host Virtual Business Symposium on March 10

Catawba Valley Community College’s Accounting and Finance, Business Administration and Office Administration programs will host a Virtual Business Symposium on Wednesday, March 10.

This event will include business owners from the community, CVCC alumni and guest speakers and is 100 percent online.

garrett_d._hinshawEach session of the Symposium will address the skills needed to succeed in today’s constantly-changing work environment. Sessions benefit all professionals, regardless of whether you are a welder, educator, cosmetologist, manufacturer or medical professional. Sessions are free and open to the public. CVCC President Dr. Garrett Hinshaw will be the first speaker during the Virtual Business Symposium in his WebEx session entitled “Leading Through the Storms.” This session will take place from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

Molly GranthamMolly Grantham, anchor for WBTV in Charlotte, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker during a WebEx session from noon until 1:00 PM.

An Alumni Discussion Panel takes place from 2:00 to 3:00 PM and will feature Markie James, owner of Bark Side Pet Grooming; and Juan Vasquez and Amanda Dowell, owners of Toasted and Rolled Ice Cream Shop. The panel will be moderated by Gary Muller, Dean, CVCC School of Workforce Development and the Arts.

The Business Symposium concludes with a session entitled “Mindful Movement and Meditation for Motivating Days” with guest speaker Tricia Cooper, a personal life coach and trainer.
