Veterans Educational Benefits Checklist
Welcome to CVCC! Contact the VA School Certifying Official (SCO) when you have completed all of the steps below and have all documentation.

To Utilize VA Educational Benefits
- Complete and submit a CVCC application on the Apply Now webpage. Contact Admissions to activate the application.
- You must be pursuing a curriculum program of study. See CVCC catalog
- Provide an official transcript from your high school or high school equivalency to Student Records.
Address: Student Records CVCC 2550 Hwy 70 SE Hickory NC 28602 - Provide official transcripts from all previous colleges to Student Records.
Address: Student Records CVCC 2550 Hwy 70 SE Hickory NC 28602 - Provide your military transcript. Military transcripts can be obtained from the Joint Services Transcript website or the Community College of the Air Force website:
- AARTS (Army), SMART (Navy/Marines), CGI (Coast Guard)—visit the Joint Services Transcript (JST) website to make your request.
- For CCAF (Air Force)—visit Air University Select, “Transcripts.”
- Transcripts will be sent electronically. CVCC is included in the Joint Services Transcript database of schools/institutions.
- You may apply for Financial Aid in addition to your VA Educational Benefits.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Check your student email account frequently for communications from CVCC’s Financial Aid department.
- Provide, to the SCO, a copy of your final DD-214 (Member 4 copy), if you are a veteran.
- Provide, to the SCO, a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or a Statement of Benefits from your E-Benefits account.
Apply for or Transfer VA Education Benefits
VA determines eligibility for benefits, not CVCC.

- Apply online on the VA Education and Training website.

Transfer VA Education Benefits, if benefits have been used at a previous institution
- Transfer your benefits to CVCC online
