Add/Edit Tree Type

Access this dialog from Manage Tree Types to enter XML property and node definitions defining the types of trees available when creating trees.

You can optionally select a default layout for each one you create, or accept the standard rendering, as described for this field below. You can then define a custom render handler designed to work with the specific fields defined for that type, and use it by default whenever that tree is used.

You can define any fields you need, for both trees and tree nodes. Both sets of properties are available to render handlers.

Tree types display as options when adding or editing tree properties as part of the create tree process.

To create a node-based tree structure, enter the following. :

Name: Enter a descriptive name.
Description: Optionally describe this tree type.
Tree Properties: Enter the XML for the menu definition.
Node Properties: Enter the XML for the node properties
Help URL: Optionally enter a link to documentation for this tree type. The URL listed for the Tree Megamenu provides help for this CommonSpot example type.
Is Default: Sets whether this tree type is the default.
Default Layout: Pick from available layouts or accept the standard. When you first add a Tree Element to a page, or change which tree an existing Tree Element displays, CommonSpot applies the default layout for the type on which the tree is based. Contributors can still choose a different layout manually, but setting a default for each type ensures that a layout appropriate for that type's defined fields will be used.
