The Rotary Club of Lake Hickory Scholarship
The Rotary Club of Lake Hickory, comprised of over 100 local professionals interested in
the provision of humanitarian service, the fostering of leadership, and the building of goodwill,
represents one of more than 30,000 international Rotary clubs which strives to exemplify the Rotary
mission of "Service Above Self." The Rotary Club of Lake Hickory seeks to give financial
assistance to deserving Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) students who wish to develop professional,
vocational, and leadership skills through their education in the community college environment.
Description of the Award
The scholarship award is $2500 (amount to be reviewed annually by the Rotary Club of
Lake Hickory) to be used in total for one deserving student to attend CVCC or to be subdivided into awards
of no less than $500 each for a number of students, as determined by the CVCC Foundation Scholarship
Selection Comittee.
Recipients may apply for the award for a second year.
Criteria for Selection (Considered in the following order of priority)
The student must:
- Reside in Catawba County, North Carolina.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Demonstrate service to the community.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Other Criteria
The recipient(s) may be invited by the Rotary Club of Lake Hickory to attend a meeting
and be introduced to the membership during the college year.
