Thomas W. Jameson Memorial Scholarship
The Thomas W. Jameson Memorial Scholarship was established to carry on the ideals of
Mr. Jameson, who served as Dean of Fiscal Affairs at Catawba Valley Community College. Among those ideals
was the feeling that obtaining an education was a way to give something back to the community in which a
person lives.
Description and Format
The Thomas W. Jameson Memorial Scholarship recognizes those students who have been
accepted into the CVCC School of Business and have a desire to obtain a degree in business. In addition,
it recognizes a person who is committed to a high level of moral character and ethics in what they say and
do in their everyday lives.
Scholarship Award
The amount of the scholarship will be $500. There will be one scholarship awarded per
year based upon a combination of academic achievement and financial need.
The scholarship will be paid quarterly for tuition until the $500 is depleted. The
recipient may not apply for the scholarship for a second year.
Commitment
In accepting the scholarship, the recipient must do so with the intent of completing
all requirements for a business degree.
Criteria for Selection
- The potential to successfully complete the two-year college career.
- Be a resident of Catawba County
- Upon graduation, or at some later date, be willing to give a written update to the CVCC Foundation
as to their career and the impact which the Scholarship had upon their career path.
Selection Process
Recipients may be nominated by high school personnel or CVCC personnel. Applications
will be reviewed and nominees may be interviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee, including
representatives of the CVCC Foundation, Student Services, and Administration.
