“CHRISTMAS COLOSSUS CONCERT 2008"
The Music Department at Catawba Valley Community College announces its plans for another Christmas Colossus concert. This concert is open to public participation either as a part of the CVCC Chorus or one of the local church, school, or community choruses, or as a private individual with choral experience.
Last year, the choir attracted 350 musicians and an audience of about 1700. Singers came from six counties and from 22 churches, high schools, and other choral goups. The group will once again be accompanied by members of the Western Piedmont Symphony and will feature a handbell choir of 100 ringers. The performance venue will be the Multi-Purpose Building on CVCC’s Main Campus on Friday, December 19th at 7:00 p.m.
Mini rehearsals open to the public begin Monday August 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the small auditorium in the administration building at CVCC. A total of four mass rehearsals will be held: September 18th, October 16th, November 13th, and December 18th all at 7:00 p.m. in CVCC’s Multi-Purpose building.
To purchase the music for this event, singers may call Pinelake Music Company at 1-800-241-3667 and request the “Christmas Colossus 2008” packet from a sales representative there, or they can purchase the music online by going to Pinelakemusic.com and clicking on their events calendar and ordering by credit card. Please allow a ten to fourteen day delivery window. The price for this packet is about $24.
