Ensembles

Everyone seeking a music degree from CVCC must participate in one of the musical ensembles available each semester of study. The CVCC Chorale is a group of approximately 30 vocalists drawn from throughout the community. It performs traditional choral arrangements, show tunes, masterworks-the musical gamut. The chorale meets fall semester and usually produces a christmas program in conjuction with other local choirs resulting in a mass choral experience of 100 or more voices and an orchestra.
The CVCC Show Choir is a group of approximately 14 vocalists who perform Broadway musical numbers. The group appears in various costumes performing in both song and dance. Members of the Show Choir are selected by auditions held in April of each year. Auditions continue until all spots are filled. Participation in this group demands a minimum of seven hours per week of rehearsal plus an unusually heavy concert schedule. In exchange for participation. students receive full tuition scholarships and most of the funding for a spring tour. Interested students should call Mike Kirby for an interview and audition appointment. Selection for this choir requires written recommendations from three sources and the maintenance of a 2.5 grade point average.
