Members of the Show Choir receive a full scholarship
to attend CVCC. The Show Choir performs choreographed
Broadway and movie musical selections
and many other musical styles. Members also participate
in a study tour each spring.
Auditions for the 15-member group are currently
underway and will remain open until all spots are
filled. Participants will be selected on a vocal audition
set by appointment. No previous dance experience
is required, but it is an asset. This group is
designed for students in the 18 to 35 age category.
New participants in Show Choir are required
to sign up for voice summer lessons before the April
25th deadline. Classes begin May 17th.
CVCC’s Music Program is a two-year college transfer
program. Courses are designed to transfer to
four-year music schools and universities. Most of
the graduates of the CVCC Music Program have
received music scholarships to continue their studies
at other colleges or university programs.
Current graduates are performing at the Houston
Opera, Washington Opera, Broadway, cruise ships
and a host of other musical genres. Former graduates
have also won auditions for performance with the
Junalusha Singers and the Clefhangers at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and other great
choral groups around the country. Many others are
now fine music teachers and music ministers.
To make an appointment for an audition, please call
327-7000 ext. 4305 and ask for Mike Kirby, CVCC
music department head.
