Catawba Valley Community College Truck Driver Program is one of only 3 PTDI-certified TDT schools in North Carolina.

According to the Employment Security Commission, Heavy and Tractor Trailor Truck Drivers comprise one of the twenty-five fastest growing professions in the four-county, Unifour Area. These positions are predicted to grow at a rate of more than 30% by 2012.

One local trucking employer has 41% of their drivers who are graduates of the CVCC Truck Driver Training program. "Our goal is to have the safest, compliant, and most professional driver possible at the control of our vehicle. We have a rigid program and skills course that challenges even an experienced driver. These students have exceeded every expected goal at this point. We are also glad to say that this usually [is] what we see from students we hire from CVCC," (source: Tyson Foods, Inc). Truck Driver Training at CVCC has graduated over 600 students since 1987. Some of the comments from these students are as follows:
