The program is 384 hours in length. Three class schedules are offered based on availability: Full time daytime classes running Monday - Friday; Part time evening classes running Monday - Thursday; and Part time weekend classes running on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays." The classes include classroom instruction, driving range skills,
and highway driving. The program is designed to teach skills and safety on the highway,
light preventative maintenance, and the basic principles involved in the professional operation of commercial vehicles.
| It consists of classroom instruction, driving range practice and over-the-road driving practice. The students receive proper training in inspecting, backing and operating a tractor-trailer safely. Emphasis is placed on defensive driving, range maneuvers, safety regulations, trip planning, cargo handling, load weight laws and accident prevention. Students also learn about map reading, trip planning, daily logs and North Carolina Department of Transportation rules and regulations needed to become a safe and professional driver. |
