Vocalists Advance to Mid-Atlantic Competition
Five Catawba Valley Community College music students were among nearly 500 who recently competed at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Mid-Atlantic Regional Vocal Competition in Baltimore, Md.
Corey Knighton placed first, Caleb Wilson placed second, and Lindsey Wilson placed third. They will advance to National Preliminary Competition. Singers who advance to the final round of nationals will compete this June at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Other competitors included Annie Walshak and Christopher Smith.
All competitors were required to prepare and present a solo singing audition, which included classical and musical theatre selections. They competed among students from North and South Carolina, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
