Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Wins Regional Awards
Catawba Valley Community’s Beta Eta Delta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society received numerous awards at a recent PTK Regional Conference held in South Carolina.
The chapter received the Carolinas Super Stars Award, Carolinas Region Honors in Action Project Awards Theme 1: Myth and Reality (Myth and Reality of Hunger and Poverty), Carolinas Region Service Project Award-Carolinas Red to SUCCEED, Website Award-Honorable Mention and Five Star Chapter Plan.
Chapter member Chad Ledford won the Distinguished Chapter Member Award. Chapter advisors Jean Lane and Tonya Stephens received the Horizon Award.
Other chapter members who attended include Melissa Mooney, Aurora Collins, chapter vice president Sarah Moses and chapter president Heaven Davis.
Chapter members attended several workshops on leadership, membership engagement and recruitment.
Ledford and Stephens will attend the PTK Catalyst Centennial in Kansas City, Mo., in April.
Phi Theta Kappa is the most prestigious scholarly organization for students at two-year colleges. The organization aims to recognize outstanding academic achievement, encourage scholarship, and foster a commitment to service for the college and community.
