Computer Integrated Machining at NCHS 2018

Catawba Valley Community College and Newton-Conover High School have been working together to implement a Career and College Promise Pathway for students pursuing a degree in Computer Integrated Machining Technology.

Beginning fall 2018, NCHS students will have access to free college courses in Computer Integrated Machining, a technical program that will either apply toward an associate degree at CVCC or give them work credentials.
Student interest in the field of computer integrated machining was cultivated through on-site recruiting at the high school where demonstrations were held and information was shared about the tuition-free benefits of CCP. Students who took part in the 10th Grade Extravaganza campus experience at CVCC witnessed firsthand how they could learn to operate advanced computerized numeric control machines in the lab. Much of the college’s training support and scholarships are provided by generous sponsors such as Stewart-Haas Racing and industry leader Haas Automation, Inc.
