CVCC LR Transfer Agreement

The late Mark Story’s continued vision between K-64, Catawba Valley Community College and Lenoir-Rhyne University added yet another page on Monday afternoon at CVCC’s WorkForce Solutions Complex.

CVCC and LRU signed a new transfer agreement, which will allow students at Catawba Valley Community College who obtain one of five Information Technology degrees to transfer into either a Bachelor of Science Degree program in Computer Science or a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Information Technology at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

“This is an extension of things that we’ve been working on for many years now,” said CVCC President Dr. Garrett Hinshaw. “These partnerships continue to grow. The impact that it will have on the citizens of this area will be huge. We’re excited to always partner with Lenoir-Rhyne University.”

The five degrees of study at CVCC eligible for transfer include IT Computer Programming, IT Information Systems, IT Network Management, IT Mobile Application Developer and IT System Security associate degrees.

Monday’s agreement continues a growing educational relationship between Catawba Valley Community College and Lenoir-Rhyne University.

The two schools previously came together in September 2018 to partner for the Catawba County Promise (now called the Lenoir-Rhyne Promise) that reduced tuition at LRU by 50 percent for any first-year undergraduate student with a 3.5 GPA or higher who is resident of Catawba County, including CVCC transfers.

“We’re always happy to have CVCC students,” said Lenoir-Rhyne University Provost Gary Johnson. “We have a long history of welcoming them — several of them coming in to finish a four-year degree in many cases. This is an extension of that. We think in particular this field — computer science — has a lot of potential for us. It’s an important one for the community. We’re looking forward to a great relationship continuing with CVCC.”
