Meeting Minutes
CVCC Professional Staff Association Executive Committee
June 30, 2000
East Campus Room 1010

Members Present : LaDonna Goodson, Karen Less, Sue Asp, Judy Barkley, Doug Allen, Anne Williams.

The meeting was called to order by President LaDonna Goodson. A penitent secretary arrived late to the meeting.

Compensation Issue

Updates on the compensation issue were made, including:

• Legislative conferees have suggested a 4.2% raise for state employees, plus a one-time $500 bonus;
• The Legislature has charged the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee with studying the compensation of university and community college faculty - no mention is made of professional staff;
• The NCCCS Student Development Personnel Association is preparing a position paper to present to President Lancaster and the legislature on pay equity for professional staff.

The next PSA Membership meeting is set for July 20, 2000, 2:00 PM in East Campus 1009. The agenda will include the following:

1. Dr. Dunbar will be invited to discuss progress on pay equity with faculty;
2. Discussion of a statewide push for a state professional staff association;
3. Appointment of a nominating committee for 2000-01 officers and executive committee members
4. Review of PSA activities this year;
5. Presentation of by-laws amendment to set a PSA dues schedule;
6. Solicitation of additional goals for PSA;
7. Report from the CVCC Professional Development Committee, and;
8. Appointment of two task forces - 1) to develop a strategic plan for achieving pay equity with faculty; 2) to examine leave policies-PSA will explore a joint task force with Faculty Senate.

Doug Allen distributed a final draft of the PSA brochure. The layout will be kept on Doug's computer and printed out as needed.

Professional Development

Members were reminded that the Executive Committee and membership meetings are eligible as professional development hours.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by LaDonna Goodson.
