Minutes
CVCC Professional Staff Association Executive Committee
November 14, 2000
Office of Sue Asp, President

Members Present:   Doug Allen, Sue Asp, Marian Baer, and Judy Barkley

The meeting was called to order by President Sue Asp.

Treasury Report:   The secretary-treasurer reported as of this date there are 22 dues paying members bringing the total of the treasury to $110.00.  The committee agreed that even though the deadline to pay dues has passed, other eligible individuals who pay dues in cash may still become members.

Revision of Association Goals: Goals one, two, three, and four were retained without revisions.  Goals numbers six and seven  were eliminated.  Goal five was amended to read "Continue to network with other NC community college staff associations."  It was decided goal eight would remain on the survey, and if it remained a priority with the association members, a task force would probably be appointed to study methods by which to accomplish recognition of outstanding service by professional staff.  Therefore, six goals will be submitted to the membership.

The committee decided that survey of revised goals would be submitted to only paying members of the association for their ranking and to request from them any additions or rewording of said goals.

Membership Brochures:   Doug Allen was asked to pursue the production of the brochures, and Sue Asp said she would assist in their distribution.  It was decided that these brochures will be sent to non-dues paying members and to any new personnel who are eligible to join the PSA. Doug believed he could address this after spring curriculum registration.

Statewide Efforts:   Sue reported that LaDonna Goodson has asked Anne Williams to assist her in endeavors to investigate and establish an interest among various community college professional associations in the formation of a statewide organization.  The committee was in favor of this action.  Betty Brame and Pat Riley from Wilkes Community College are also willing to assist in these efforts.

Letterhead Logo:   As no designs have yet been submitted from the membership, Sue Asp offered a logo design to the committee who approved it and authorized her to check prices for printing of the stationery.  She will e-mail executive committee with the results.

Representatives to CVCC Committees:   Sue Asp has been asked by Dr. Dunbar to a meeting regarding the LRC Planning Committee.  In response to her concern of being possibly overwhelmed to represent the PSA on other college committees, the executive committee suggested she ask for representatives from the membership.

Schedule for next General Meeting:   The next general meeting of the PSA will be Thursday, January 18, 2000, at 2:30 P.M., at East Campus.  Sue will secure a room for the meeting and post it to the web page and e-mail paying members.

Other Business:   Sue stated that the inclusive resolution "whereas" statements the committee had composed for Dr. Dunbar have been delivered to him for the next CVCC Board of Trustees meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Sue Asp.
