Meeting Minutes
CVCC Professional Staff Association Executive Committee
October 13, 2000
Student Service Office of LaDonna Goodson

Members Present: Doug Allen, Sue Asp, Judy Barkley, LaDonna Goodson, Jim Payne.

The meeting was called to order by President Sue Asp.

Agenda

The agenda for the upcoming PSA meeting set for 2:30 P.M. Thursday, October 19, 2000, in East Wing 312 was outlined.

It was agreed that the committee would ask the membership to support the bond referendum.

LaDonna Goodson was asked to present an update on the statewide representatives meeting held on October 2, 2000. A follow-up meeting with this group is pending responses to a survey transmitted to all community colleges. LaDonna Goodson agreed to spearhead these efforts. Doug Allen reported that Janice Reeves of the NCCC Student Development Personnel Pay Equity Task Force would welcome any support from the CVCC PSA and would be willing to host the next statewide organizational meeting at Alamance College. Ron Hipps, President of NCCCSDP Association, is also much interested in involvement in this effort and recommended that gaining support of one larger statewide association may spur support from other such associations and gain the numbers that would influence legislators.

Anne Williams will be asked to report on the state instructors' conference where she discussed the goal of the NCCC Faculty Association with Jim Davies, its current president.

Karen Less will report for the CVCC PSA Strategic Planning Task Force.

Doug Allen will report for the CVCC Professional Development Committee.

The membership will be polled as to what goals they want to pursue for 2000-2001.

The President will enlist the assistance of the membership for the design of a letterhead logo for the association.

Meeting Notice

President Sue Asp queried the committee as to making the notices of the meetings to the membership more inviting. She suggested that the notices be prefaced with an accomplishment of the PSA in a "DID YOU KNOW.?" format. The entire committee totally supported this idea.

Dues

It was recommended that the dues approved by the membership be paid in cash and maintained in a secure place on campus. Sue Asp will lend a cash box to the association, and it will be secured in the safe in the Business Office of Corporate and Continuing Education on East Campus. The dues can be paid to any PSA Executive Committee member by October 31, 2000. It was decided that members would not receive e-mail meeting notices, meeting minutes, etc., unless dues are paid. The website will remain current for non-dues paying members to gain this information.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Sue Asp.

Respectfully Submitted,

Judy Barkley

Secretary-Treasurer
