CVCC Professional Staff Association Executive Committee
January 15, 2002
CVCC Foundation Meeting Room
Members Present: Doug Allen, Sue Asp, Donna Trado, Sallie Neville Merritt, Wanda Horvath
The meeting was called to order at 8:35 AM by President Doug Allen.
Old Business:
Donna Trado gave an update on the PSA of the Year Award. Plaque will be ordered from PSA funds. Official school/foundation support for this award for this and/or future years is still a subject for discussion. (see below). When John Beall returns to the office we will get an updated financial report and at that time poll membership by e-mail on whether to add a gift certificate to the award. We will attempt to finalize this and make the presentation at the general membership meeting scheduled for June 18.
New Business:
PSA Executive will meet with Dr. Dunbar Thursday June 13 at 2:00 PM. We will review our activities of the past year, our goals, and specifically the current and/or future support of Professional and Support Staff awards as equitable with Faculty Awards.
President will send an e-mail to all CVCC professional staff concerning the lack of full funding for enrollment growth in the governor's proposed budget. If his version of the budget is adopted there is a strong possibility that there may be jobs lost in the non-teaching areas of community colleges. We must contact our state legislators and remind them of the essential role community colleges play in the economic recovery of the state.
Planning for next General Meeting:
General meeting is scheduled for Tuesday June 18 at 10:00 AM. Executive committee suggested we try a morning meeting this time. It will be held on main campus, room to be announced.
Other items for the general meeting:
