Running and Being Outdoor running is my favorite pastime event. I average 30 to 35 miles of weekly running. I have been an avid and competitive runner since 1978. From 1979 through 1994, I competed in and finished 18, (26.2 miles) marathons. Since that time, I have competed in numerous half marathons, 10 and five k events. I have won a number of these events in my age category over time. I love to run and will continue to run for the following reasons: It provides a sense of physical and mental well-being, it is therapeutic, and it provides a unique feeling of oneness with the Universe. Running may not be the only sport, but in the long run, no pun intended, it may be the best. I love to quote a familiar saying from my beloved grandfather: "It is better for the old human body to wear out than to rust out." Something to consider. |
