SBA Resources For Your Small Business

Discover the many SBA Web-based resources to help you plan, start or expand a small business.  Local SBA representative shares the many in-person counseling and training resources available to help with your startup or existing small business.  Session covers what it takes to produce a bankable loan proposal.  including the Five Cs of Credit, and how a lender views a business credit application.  Find out what financial assistance is available through the U.S. Small Business Administration and its lending partners and learn how to tap into federal government contracting opportunities with the agency's certification programs. Discover how to get bonding for contracts through the SBA's surety bond guaranty program.  Attendees are invited to bring their own lunch and beverage to this session.  1.5 hrs.

Fundraising Fundamentals For Non-Profits
 

Non-Profit organizations must continually look for new funding sources and ways to support their services and mission.  Fundraising is a needed skill for many non-profits as support from traditional sources shrinks and organizations search for new sources of support.  This 2.5 seminar reviews the primary elements of fundraising, compares the types of fundraising to an organization's needs, and provides best practices.  Participants evaluate their organization's needs and determine where fundraising events can supplement their operations.

Small Business Essentials from the NC Department of Revenue and
Secretary of State

Representatives from the NC Department of Revenue and the NC Secretary of State office will present Business Essentials, which businesses operating in North Carolina need to understand in order to comply with state laws and regulations.  The session covers the basics of tax compliance, ranging from registering your business with the Department of Revenue to withholding taxes for employees and sales and use tax requirements.  The program also covers how to register your business entity with the Secretary of State's office.  A question and answer session will complete this program.

It's also something that must be updated to reflect changes in your business and changes in the competitive environment. This three-hour workshop shows participants the significance of a well-written business plan, focusing on the audience for the plan, and key elements which should be included such as a marketing plan and financial projections.
