Basic Air Conditioning Concepts & Refrigeration Certification
This course will introduce the basic refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical concepts of air conditioning systems and the process and procedures for successful completion in obtaining EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Certification through North Carolina State Board of Refrigeration Examiners. Topics will include terminology, safety, and identification and function of components; tools and intruments and equipment used in air conditioning systems as well as electrical and mechanical devices often used in air conditioning systems. Students will be able to identify laws and regulations required by EPA for recovery, recycle and reclaiming refrigerants. Upon completion, students should be able to have skills necessary for an entry-level position as an Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technician Assistant. Certification exam fee is included in registration cost. Students must purchase textbook at CVCC Bookstore. Approximate cost is $125.
