Office Professional in the Workplace

Running the front deskCourse Description: This training program is designed for students who have previous experience in secretarial work, office administration or seeking a professional career change. Students should possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This course provides training in projecting a professional image, conflict resolution, team building, telephone etiquette, time and stress management, working with multiple bosses, problem solving, and customer service. Students also learn Microsoft Office 2010 Suite and focus on résumé writing and interviewing skills. In addition, students learn the essentials of staff support, information and records management, communications technology, travel and meeting coordination, space planning, and office ergonomics.

This course provides students with the fundamentals necessary to sit for the internationally recognized Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) exam offered by the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

Pre-requisites: Through the Human Resources Development program, students are required to achieve a Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) upon completion of the Pathways to Office Careers course. Students are also required to complete the Computer Literacy course with the exception of students with a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
