CVCC welcomes summer school students from visiting colleges/universities! We offer one 10 week session in the summer with classes taught Monday through Thursday (no Fridays). The summer course schedule is published on the CVCC website in early Spring.
The Summer session starts Monday, May 18 and ends Tuesday, July 28. The ONLY school holidays are Monday, May 25 and Thursday, July 2. Students may not register for a class once it begins. Classes run the entire week of July 4; there is an attendance policy at CVCC. Please read this entire Summer School webpage for the latest information. To enroll:
2. Bring a photo ID and come to the Student Services Office to meet with an admissions staff member to process the Application for Admission.Students must do this, not moms or dads. Bring along an unofficial college transcript to determine if you have met the CVCC course prerequisites.
3. STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PROCESS APPLICATIONS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! IF THERE IS A REMOTE POSSIBILITY OF ATTENDING CVCC FOR SUMMER SCHOOL, PROCESS THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION WHILE YOU ARE HOME FROM YOUR COLLEGE. ANY BREAK IS A GREAT TIME TO DO THIS; CVCC is closed on Good Friday, APRIL 3.
Note: Please consult with your home institution before registering for classes at CVCC to ensure course transferrability. CVCC is unable to add students to a class once the class has begun.Summer Calendar:(Please read carefully.)

Complete a CVCC Application online, marking "Special Credit" (near the end of the Programs of Study list) as your program of study. Make a personal visit to the Student Services Office to meet with an Admissions Counselor. A photo ID is required for service. A parent, sibling or friend cannot appear on behalf of the student to process applications. Students may complete an online application, but must come to Student Services to meet with an admissions staff member to process the Application for Admission.
Proof of prerequisite coursework/transcripts
Many courses require prerequisites in reading, English, math and computer literacy. Consult the CVCC Course Catalog for particulars. Bring copies of your current college transcripts or SAT/ACT scores as proof of prerequisites. You may not register for CVCC courses without appropriate prerequisites, either completed or currently in progress, and cited on your transcripts. Grades of "D","F","I" or "W" in prerequisite coursework are not accepted.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TRANSCRIPTS: BRING ALL OF THEM WITH YOU -- they may be unofficial transcripts for summer school visiting students who attend other schools. CVCC must be able to document WHERE a student took a prerequisite class, WHEN a student took the class and the GRADE the student earned. PLEASE BRING ALL TRANSCRIPTS WITH YOU WHEN YOU PROCESS THE APPLICATION TO THE COLLEGE.
Taking summer school at CVCC to raise a GPA at your home institution? If you have earned a grade of "F" at your home college or university, repeating that class at a community college will not replace the "F" on your transcript. You must repeat failing grades at the school where that grade was earned.

There is a fee to utilize the payment plan. Financial Aid is not available for Special Credit Visiting Students.
