Cooking Up a Storm (Rising 4th-6th Graders)

Food lovers stop here! Learn to be comfortable in the kitchen and gain useful cooking skills. Learn basic food safety, nutrition, measuring methods, utensil and food preparation terms, and using small appliances to prepare food. You will prepare fun foods and eat the treats you make in class. Whisk in a variety of ingredients, toss in a little fun, season with imagination and soon you will be cooking up a storm while learning!

Reader's Theater (Rising 1st-2nd Graders)

Using theater games and your imagination, Reader's Theater is an exciting way to help you improve reading fluency. Students are spared the stress of having to memorize lines and can instead focus on developing a strong, dramatic and expressive reading while having fun acting the parts. This class emphasizes reading aloud with expression along with follow-up activities, strengthening key skills in reading, fluency, comprehension, and listening skills.

Sewing-Beginning Level II (Ages 8-12)

Continue the fun started in Beginning Sewing, Level I to improve your sewing skills. Learn the following techniques used in sewing - sewing machine stitches, hand sewing techniques, hemming and mending, buttons, pattern reading, and zippers. Use your creativity to make simple projects such as a zippered bag, a vest, or stuffed animal. Sewing machines will be provided, but feel free to bring your own portable machine, if you have one. Weaving & Braiding (Ages 8 - 12)

Designed for beginners, this class will introduce students to different weaves and braids. Learn different yarns, strings, and ways to create weaving strips and how to measure, cut and braid bracelets for yourself and your friends. In this hands-on class, students will weave or braid a belt, a simple scarf, a round placemat, and friendship bracelets. Students will make a bracelet using a new technique called 5 finger braiding.
