Pathways to Office Careers
This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults interested in office careers. The curriculum framework is based on office & clerical occupations and addresses one or more of the following topics: office career exploration; job seeking and keeping strategies; entry-level skill awareness and development; and training success strategies, including basic computer literacy skills. Upon completion of this class, Computer Literacy for the Workplace is highly recommended. (Pre-test given in this class).
Course Learning Objectives:
- Students will gain an understanding of the roles and duties of office & clerical occupations through career exploration
- Students will learn to set short term and long term realistic and positive goals
- Students will learn job keeping skills that relate to the office & clerical field, including introduction to keyboarding and computer literacy skills
- Students will pre-test for vocabulary and reading comprehension skills
