Certifications at Catawba Valley Community College Include:

Computer Integrated Machining

NIMS logo

Students of this program learn to manufacture mechanical components with computer numerical control (CNC) machines, blueprint reading, and computer-aided manufacturing software for programming CNC milling and turning machines. Skills are validated through the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) machining and metal forming certifications. Employment opportunities for entry-level machinists exist in manufacturing industries, public institutions, governmental agencies, and in a wide range of specialty machining job shops.

Mechatronics Certification

Mechatronics combines the knowledge of mechanics, electricity, electronics and computers into an integrated hands-on, skills-based curriculum. Many jobs now require mechatronics skills and problem solving abilities for professionals who design, implement, manufacture, service and repair a wide array of equipment.

Six Sigma Green and Black Belt Certification

Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt Training is a Continuous Improvement tool used to minimize variability in manufacturing and business processes by identifying errors and eliminating the root cause. The certification at CVCC is a blended learning environment, where e-learning (asynchronous online) complements classroom training. Jobs requiring Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certificate include mid- to upper-level project managers, process engineers, consultants and mfg engineers.

HIT (Health Information Technology) Certification

Training the Workforce to Bridge the Healthcare Technology Gap, Health Information Technology logo

Health Information Technology provides the skill set to code clinical data in any healthcare setting; maintain information systems for planning and evaluating patient care; collect, process and analyze health information; provide accessibility of health care data to legitimate users while protecting patient privacy. Program graduates accept positions that range from very technical, such as coding and tumor registry, to very people oriented, such as supervision and management. Almost all positions involve working in an office environment.

Project Management Certification

Project Management Certification is through the Project Management Institute (PMI.) PMI offers a comprehensive certification program for project practitioners of all education and skill levels. Logistics Certification

Logistics Certification is certified through The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC), a 501(c)3 non-profit, is an industry-led, training, assessment and certification system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by the nation’s front-line production and material handling workers. The nationwide MSSC System, based upon industry-defined and federally-endorsed national standards, is the gold standard for front-line industrial training and has been recognized by: ANSI, US Department of Labor, US Department of Education, Job Corps, Manufacturing Institute and by many other organizations.

ACT's National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is a portable credential that demonstrates achievement a certain level of workplace employability skills in Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information, and Reading for Information.
