If you’re a beginning guitar player, being able to play a song all the way through is one of the most rewarding experiences you will have. Whether you just bought your first guitar or you have been playing for a while, this 6-week step-by-step program will have you playing along with some of your favorite country music CD’s in no time. By the time you complete this course we will have you comfortable with 8 of the easiest, most used chords in country music songs. We will also give you a small taste of basic music theory along the way but the main goal here is plain old FUN! No class on October 3, 2018.
Ever wonder how a piano works? Ever wonder how to tune and fix them? This class will answer both questions. If you like music, enjoy meeting people, and like working with your hands, a career in piano technology might be right for you. This hands-on class introduces ways a piano technician can make money tuning, repairing and regulating pianos. You will work with jigs, models, tuning hammers, glues, and more. No tools are required. This class is not long enough to teach you how to tune a piano, but does introduce you to that path. At the end of this class, you will know whether or not this trade interests you.
Seeking actors and backstage personnel, the CVCC Theatre Program offers a Stage Production class for ages 16 and up. The class runs from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning November 5 until Saturday, December 15. There will be some holiday breaks during those dates. The Performances of a Theatre for Young Audience Piece, "Gathering Blue" by Eric Coble (adapted from the book by Lois Lowry) are to be on December 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 15. Acting roles are limited and not guaranteed. Running sound, lighting, costumes, or props for the performances are also possible and valuable experiences. This course may be a good fit for homeschool high school students who are looking for an Arts credit or for those whose work schedules allow free mornings.
