This course provides basic instruction in real estate principles and practices. Topics include: law, finance, brokerage, closing, valuation, management, taxation, mathematics, construction, land use, property insurance, and NC License Law and Commission Rules.

Classes Scheduled: Fall and Spring Semesters (10 weeks)
Class Days and Times: Monday and Wednesday - 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Once the student successfully passes this course he/she will be eligible to take the North Carolina Real Estate exam.

Exam Fee: $65.00
License Fee: $35.00
Exam Locations: Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and Asheville

Before take the state exam the individual must have a back ground check completed by the state designated company.

After successfully passing the state exam, the individual will be issued a North Carolina "Provisional" Brokerage license but, the applicant is only eligible for employment with a licensed Real Estate Broker.  The individual has three years from the date of receiving his/her license to complete the additional 90 hours of Post Licensing training.  After successful completion, the "Provisional" is removed from his/her license.  If the Brokerage training is not completed by the three year deadline the individual's license will be inactivated.

The instructor, Gerry Nicholas, is a licensed GRI, Green Agent CDPE certified Broker who has been teaching Real Estate and Brokerage classes in North Carolina since 1997.  She was the former President of the Board of Realtors and Professional Businesswomen's Association.  She has also been a consultant and National Trainer for a major United States Real Estate company.  Prior to moving to North Carolina Ms. Nicholas taught in Illinois and has been teaching for more than 30 years.

You can register for RLS 112 by going to Student Services on CVCC's main campus.  You must register before the class begins.

Student Services Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
