CVCC's Lady Buccaneer's NJCAA District H Champions!!

District H Tournament: CVCC vs Passaic County CC
Continuing their winning ways, the CVCC Lady Bucs kept their season alive by winning the NJCAA District H championship for the third straight season Saturday at the MPC. The Lady Bucs gained a hard fought 3-1 victory over the visiting Lady Panthers of Passaic County Community College of New Jersey. The win earned the Lady Bucs a trip to the NJCAA National Championships in Rochester, Minnesota, on November 14 & 15. Our women were led by the consistent play of Emily Grady on offense, and Ali Bruns' hustle on defense. The steady floor play of Tabby Pope and Samantha Lo also played a major factor in the CVCC victory. Good luck in Minnesota.

10/25/08 CVCC Lady Buccaneer's Region X Championship for Third Straight Year!!

Three-Peat. That was the goal of the CVCC Lady Bucs, and they accomplished that goal today by winning the Region X championship for the third straight time. The Lady Bucs defeated Central Carolina Community College 3-0 in the semi-finals, and then won over host Davidson County Community College 3-1 in the hard fought finals. Our women came out smoking in their first match of the day, and rolled over Central Carolina by the scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-9. The host, Storm of DCCC, put up a strong battle in the finals, but our women were even stronger, winning by the scores of 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, and 25-21. Not only did our women win the region title, they also won a slew of individual awards. Autumn Abernathy was named Player of the Year in Region X, and was also named to the all-region team, as were Emily Grady and Ali Bruns. Shannon Gregory and Erin Rummage were named to the all-tournament team. And completing the sweep of individual awards, Coach Jenny Ellis was named Coach of the Year. The CVCC Lady Bucs next take the court on Saturday, November 1, as they represent Region X in the district championships to be held in our MPC. Go Bucs!!
