CVCC vs. Patrick Henry CC 2/3/10
The Lady Bucs traveled to Martinsville, VA to take on the #9 Patrick Henry Lady Patriots. The two teams exchanged the lead several times during the first half, and were tied at 36 at halftime. CVCC pulled ahead by as many as 6 in the second half, but Patrick Henry fought back, finally defeating the Lady Bucs by a score of 69-60. Adrienne Barbour led all scorers with 23. CVCC was led by Ebony Caldwell’s 17 and Pooh Dunbar’s 16
CVCC Women's Basketball vs Piedmont Baptist College 1/21/10
The CVCC Lady Bucs improved to 12-3 in their inaugural season with a 101-41 victory over Piedmont Baptist College in Winston-Salem. Six Lady Bucs scored in double figures, including three double-doubles. Pooh Dunbar led the way with a game high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Fran Edgerton added 17 points and 10 rebounds, and sophomore Mia Forney had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ebony Caldwell (13), Christine Cole (12) and Kristen Maney (11) were CVCC’s other leading scorers. Emily Buffaloe scored 19 for the Lady Conquerors. The Lady Bucs play on the road again Friday, January 22 at Bennett College in Greensboro.
CVCC Women's Basketball vs. Patrick Henry CC 1/17/10
CVCC's women's basketball team fell 92-67 Sunday afternoon to the visiting #9 Patrick Henry Lady Patriots. For the first 18 minutes of the game, the Lady Bucs fought hard, with several lead changes. Patrick Henry went on a run the last two minutes before the break, building a 44-33 lead. In the second half, Patrick Henry started to put the game away, hitting several three pointers.
The Lady Bucs fall to 11-3 overall, 6-3 in conference play. CVCC was led by Ebony Caldwell's 22 and Shayla Watkins' 11. The undefeated Lady Patriots were led by Adrienne Barbour's game high 30 and Indie Houser's 24.
CVCC Women's Basketball vs. Lenoir Community College 1/15/10
The CVCC women's basketball team defeated the visiting Lenoir Community College Lady Lancers 91-41 Friday night. After jumping out to a 38-19 halftime lead, the Lady Bucs turned it on in the second half, outscoring Lenoir 53-22. A big key for CVCC was the 59 team rebounds pulled in.
Five Lady Bucs scored in double figures: Shayla Watkins (16), Christine Cole (15), Shante' Crawford (15), Ebony Caldwell (12), and Mia Forney (12). Mia Forney completed the double-double with 11 rebounds. Pooh Dunbar also had 11 rebounds and chipped in 7 points for CVCC.
Lenoir CC was led by Devon Bond (12 points) and Rachel Martin (10).
CVCC hosts #9 Patrick Henry CC on Sunday at 3pm.
CVCC Women's Basketball vs. Warren Wilson College 1/11/10
The CVCC women defeated the visiting Lady Owls of Warren Wilson in a non-conference game by a score of 89-35 Monday night to improve to 10-2 overall. The Lady Buc defense smothered the Lady Owls during the game, picking up 36 team steals, led by Kristin Maney's 8 steals. Even scoring from CVCC provided great offense, as five players scored in double digits. (Kristin Maney, Shayla Watkins, Chasity Devlin, Pooh Bost- 12; Christine Cole- 11). Fran Edgerton had 11 rebounds for the Lady Bucs. Warren Wilson's Laura Dison led all scorer's with 17. The Lady Bucs play at home Friday night against Lenior Community College at 7pm.
CVCC vs. Louisburg College 1/9/10
The CVCC women's basketball team lost to the visiting Louisburg Lady Hurricanes 73-52 Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Lady Bucs to 5-2 in conference play and 9-2 overall. The Lady Bucs were led by Ebony Caldwell's 19 points and 5 steals, and Mia Forney's 14 points and 5 blocks. CVCC will host Warren Wilson on Monday at 5 pm.

CVCC Women’s Basketball vs. Piedmont Baptist College
The CVCC Lady Bucs improved to 7-1 overall Tuesday night with a 107-39 victory over the visiting Piedmont Baptist College Lady Conquerors. Every CVCC player scored during the course of the night. Mia Forney scored 16 of her game high 22 points in the first half, helping the Lady Bucs build a 60-21 lead at the half. Forney also pulled in 13 rebounds for her 2nd double-double of the season. Shante’ Crawford had 18 for CVCC, Christine Cole scored 16, and Pooh Dunbar also had a double-double, with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kristin Maney pitched in 10 points.
Erica Buffaloe scored 16 for Piedmont.
The Lady Bucs will play at home again on Sunday at 1pm against Louisburg College.
CVCC Women's Basketball vs. #25 Louisburg College 12/6/9
The CVCC Women's basketball team defeated #25 Louisburg in a conference game by a score of 67-60 Sunday afternoon at home. The win brings CVCC to 8-1 overall, and 4-1 in conference play. The Lady Bucs used solid man defense for the whole game, which was a big key in the win.
"Our girls played great defense today," said Coach Tommy Edwards. "That might have been our best defensive effort of the season so far. Louisburg is an extremely talented team, and we stepped up to the challenge."
CVCC, up 31-25 at halftime, built up as much as an 11 point lead in the second half. However, the Lady Hurricanes went on a run and erased that lead, tying the game at 40 with about 12 minutes to play. The Lady Bucs answered with their own run, and held a 6 point lead for most of the last 9 minutes.
Ebony Caldwell led all scorer's with 17 points, while Shayla Watkins added 16 and Pooh Dunbar 15 for the Lady Bucs. The Lady Hurricanes were led by Shartar Jackson (15) and Paquita Wingate (13).
The CVCC Women will have one more game before the Christmas break, traveling to Wake Tech for a conference game on Wednesday.
CVCC Women's Basketball vs. Wake Tech 12/9/9
The CVCC Women's basketball team traveled to Wake Tech on Wednesday night and came back with a victory. The 71-68 win takes the Lady Bucs to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Lady Bucs were led by Mia Forney with 16 points and 6 rebounds, Shayla Watkins with 13 points and 5 assists, and Ebony Caldwell with 11 points and 4 steals.
The Lady Bucs were down 33-25 at the half, and the Lady Eagles went up by as much as 13 at one point. CVCC fought back in the second half, keeping Wake Tech off of the boards, led by Pooh Bost's 13 rebounds, Pooh Dunbar's 9 rebounds, and Chasity Devlin's 8.
The Lady Bucs will resume play in January.
CVCC vs Mt. Olive JV 11/20/9
The CVCC Women's basketball team defeated the visiting Mount Olive JV team Friday night by a score of 88-67, to improve to 5-1 overall. The Lady Bucs went on a run that started in the last four minutes of the first half and lasted through the first five minutes of the second half to build up a lead as much as 27 points. CVCC had 5 players in double figures, led by Chasity Devlin's 16. The other Lady Bucs in double figures were Shayla Watkins (14), Ebony Caldwell (12), Pooh Bost (11) and Christine Cole (11). Mount Olive was led by Shanita Garner (16), Brianna McEntire (12), and Chantel Gaines (10). The Lady Bucs will be at home again on Monday at 6pm.
CVCC Women's Basketball vs. Lenoir CC 11/18/09
The CVCC Lady Bucs traveled to Kinston, NC and defeated the Lenoir CC Lady Lancers on Wednesday night by a score of 72-38. The Lady Bucs scoring was led by Shayla Watkins (14), Mia Forney (10) and Shante' Crawford (9). The win takes CVCC to 4-1 overall, and 3-1 in the conference. The Lady Bucs will be at home on Friday at 6pm for a non-conference game against the Mount Olive College JV team.
CVCC Lady Buccaneers vs. Brunswick CC (11-15-09)
The CVCC women's basketball team improved to 3-1 (2-1 in the conference) Sunday afternoon. All eleven Lady Bucs scored as they defeated the visiting Brunswick CC Lady Dolphins 88-42.
CVCC jumped out to a 13-0 lead to start the game, and held a 42-14 lead at the half. "I thought we came out pretty intense today. We are starting to gel as a team, and it's showing," stated Coach Tommy Edwards. "Our defense is our main strength, and we can transition that defense into points."
Pooh Bost scored 20 of her game high 23 in the second half. Pooh Dunbar and Christine Cole both contributed 10 points to the win. Kiana Galloway had 15 and Wiletta McIntyre had 13 for Brunswick.
CVCC will travel to play the Montreat College JV team Monday, then to Lenoir CC for another away game on Wednesday. The Lady Bucs have added a home game on Friday evening against the Mount Olive College JVs at 6pm.

The CVCC Women’s basketball program scored its first victory Thursday night by defeating visiting Bennett College 65-46. The Lady Bucs, who let by 12 at the half, got an early lead, and survived several runs by the Belles to take the win. “I thought we played good, hard defense all night,” said Coach Tommy Edwards. “Any time we can hold a team in the 40s, I’m happy.”
Ebony Caldwell led the way for CVCC with 16 points and 8 steals, and Mia Forney earned a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Nicole Miller scored 14 points for Bennett.
