Cooperative Education
Cooperative education (co-op) is an academic program designed to give qualified students an opportunity to blend theory learned in the classroom with one or more semesters of paid work experience. Co-op awards academic credit toward graduation for part-time or full-time work which is related to the student's program of study. The purpose of cooperative education is to promote personal, educational, and career development.

- Opportunity to observe potential candidates for full-time employment
Students may Participate by:
- Eligibility
- Being currently enrolled at CVCC as full time or part time
- Completed at least 12 credit hours of course work
- Be willing to remain in assigned work experience for a full semester
- Meet scheduled deadlines
- Submit required assignments
- Students must have 2.0 GPA
- Apply By:
- Complete the co-op application
- Schedule an interview with the co-op staff
- Director will assist in scheduling interviews with employers
- Prepare a resume
- Permission to co-op with current employer
- Obtain permission from current employer to register for co-op class
- Submit a Request to Use Current Employer Form to co-op director
- Co-op director will schedule a conference with job supervisor
Employers Participate by:
- Identifying employment need that a student in training can do
- List a job position with the co-op office
- Interview and select student of your choice
- Train and supervise student on the job
- Assist student with the development of learning objectives
- Complete required evaluation reports for the student
