Awards and Publications
In 2008, the Digital Storytelling project at Catawba Valley Community College was named one of ten national finalists for the 2008 Bellwether Award in the category of instructional programs and services. As finalists, instructors Kay Gregory and Joyce Steelman, as well as CVCC President Garrett Hinshaw made a presentation during the 2008 Community College Futures Assembly held in Orlando, Florida.
The Bellwether Award was established in 1995 to recognize schools using cutting-edge, trend-setting programs that other schools might want to use. The award has been compared to the Heisman Trophy in football because it is competitively judged and is awarded by peers in the community college system.
