Bares Awarded Scholarship to Attend CUFI Summit


Catawba Valley Community College student David Bares recently received a scholarship from Christians United For Israel to attend the annual organization’s National Summit in Washington, D.C. this summer.

Bares will be one of 400 top college students from around the country to attend the summit. He received the scholarship based on his success in establishing a CUFI chapter at CVCC last year. Bares serves as president of the chapter, which is the newest one in the state.    

Bares is enrolled in CVCC’s associate in arts program and hopes to transfer to UNC Chapel Hill to complete a bachelor’s degree in the health field.

A Level II tutor at the CVCC’s Learning Assistance Center, he tutors students in anatomy and physiology, English, psychology, history and world religion. He has been named to the Honors List and is writing a book on biblical truths.

Before enrolling at CVCC he attended Davie County Community College, World Bible College and the Ringgold School of Preaching in Ringgold, Ga. A native of Davie County, Bares worked for J & J Home Improvement in Mocksville for 24 years. The Hickory resident also serves as one of the associate ministers at Morning Star Baptist Church in Hickory.
