Baggett & McKemy Named Students of the Semester

Sara Baggett and Justin McKemy were recently named Students of the Semester.

Up to eight students are nominated for this award during each academic year. Students are recognized for their academic achievements, school leadership and community involvement. They also receive gift certificates to be used in the CVCC Galley food service and Trove Campus Store.
The daughter of Elizabeth Ann Baggett of Newton and Mike Baggett of Charlotte, Baggett will complete an associate in arts degree this spring. A graduate of Newton-Conover High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor society, Interact, Mu Alpha Theta, SADD and the Juniorettes. At CVCC, is an active member of the Circle K International Club, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Rotaract and the Student Leadership Academy. She works part-time at CVCC as an assistant in the Developmental English & Humanities Departments.

Baggett plans to transfer to a four-year college or university and pursue a career teaching math. 

McKemy graduated from McKemy Christian Academy in 2011 and is the son of Bob and Fran McKemy of Hickory. He was an active member of 4-H’s Global Information System Club and C-3 Leadership Program. He is a member of CVCC’s Rotaract Club and received an Emerging Leaders Scholarship from the CVCC Foundation. He works part time at CVCC’s Learning Assistance Center.

McKemy will complete an associate degree in business administration this May and plans to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree.
