Reference Librarian Publishes Scholarly Research

Ari Sigal, Catawba Valley Community College’s reference librarian and director of the Access to Scholarly Knowledge Program (A.S.K.), recently edited “Advancing Library Education:  Technological Innovation and Instructional Design,” published by IGI-Global (Hershey, Penn.) in the “Advances in Library and Information Science (ALIS) Book Series,” scheduled for release next month.

The ALIS Book Series aims to expand the body of library science literature by covering a wide range of topics affecting the profession and field at large. The series also seeks to provide readers with an essential resource for uncovering the latest research in library and information science management, development, and technologies.

Sigal coordinated the work of more than 20 authors from universities around the United States and abroad to produce the volume. The publication features the research of in-state colleagues at Appalachian State University, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and North Carolina Central University, and colleagues across the country from San Jose State University, University of Illinois, Florida State University, and University of California, Los Angeles and others.  Sigal also worked with colleagues abroad from universities in Australia, Canada, Estonia and India.

Sigal earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in library science at the University of South Florida. He serves students, employees, and the community by providing research assistance and attracting special collections of impressive historical significance.
