Dillon White Receives Elks Lodge Scholarship

Catawba Valley Community College student Dillon White received a $500 scholarship from the Benevolent and Protective Order of Newton Elks Lodge No. 2042 through the CVCC Foundation, Inc.

Exalted Ruler Wilbur Guernsey and Elks Scholarship Committee Chairman Ken Simmons with the Newton Elks Lodge presented White the scholarship at a recent Lodge meeting.

White was named one of 58 Academic Excellence students within the North Carolina Community College System. A Taylorsville resident and graduate of Alexander Central High School, he served as the vice president of service for the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and is a 2012 Student Leadership Academy Fellow.

An honors student and former Student of the Semester, he is enrolled in CVCC’s associate degree nursing program and plans to graduate this May. For his invaluable contributions to the Academy, White was selected as one of 30 students statewide to attend the North Carolina Community College Student Leadership Development Program in Raleigh. He was nominated to attend by Dr. Dianne Little, Phillips Leadership Institute Director at CVCC.
The son of Westley and Pamela White of Taylorsville, he attends Concord Baptist Church in Stoney Point.
