Katie Musselman Receives Circle K International Scholarship

Catawba Valley Community College student Katie Musselman recently received a Circle K International Scholarship to attend Leadership Academy this summer in Morgantown, Ind.

CKI Leadership Academy is an intense six-day event that teaches servant leadership, which requires leaders to put the needs of others first. Participants and facilitators also complete a service project.

The majority of the program costs (lodging, meals, and materials) are funded by a grant from the Kiwanis International Foundation.  Other costs will be funded by CVCC’s Student Government Association and Circle K International chapter.

A resident of Lenoir, Musselman is enrolled in the Associate in Arts college transfer program and plans to transfer to a four-year college next year to complete a bachelor’s degree to teach middle school English. She is the president of CVCC’s Circle K International chapter and served as the publicity officer last year.

A graduate of South Caldwell High School, she played the clarinet in the band throughout her high school career and received several awards. She is the daughter of James Musselman of Winston Salem and Dianna Hall of Lenoir.
