Frost & Revetta Awarded Mark North Memorial Scholarship
Eddie Frost and Andrea Revetta, students enrolled in Catawba Valley Community College’s Architectural Technology program, were recently awarded the Mark North Memorial Scholarship through the CVCC Foundation, Inc.
Frost was first exposed to architecture as a student at Hibriten High School taking a class in some aspect of the discipline all four years. He has completed studies at Caldwell Community College and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, but discovered his passion in CVCC’s Architectural Technology program. The son of Ed and Tamara Frost of Lenoir, Frost plans to graduate in 2014 and pursue a career in residential design.
Revetta developed an appreciation for design and creativity under her father’s skilled hands. A carpenter/cabinet maker who constructed many of the structures on their 52-acre lodge property in upstate New York, Revetta’s father taught her a love for design and creativity. Despite several attempts to pursue an education, children and full-time work got in the way. Now, as an adult with only one child at home, she is pursuing her educational goals at CVCC and her dreams to develop a rewarding career in architectural technology. A resident of Hickory, Revetta plans to graduate in 2014.
The Mark North Memorial Scholarship was established by his family, friends, and professional colleagues through the CVCC Foundation after North’s untimely death in 2007. North graduated from CVCC’s Architectural Technology program in 1981. After partnering in Drafting Associates, a successful residential design business, North went on to become a successful general contractor and formed North Design and Construction.
Former business partner and director of CVCC’s Architectural Technology program Lynn Preslar says, “Mark was a natural when it came to residential design and he had an infectious personality. His memory will live on through his talent and the lives he touched.”
The Professional Construction Estimators Association Chapter 9 has contributed to the scholarship annually.
