Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Wins Awards

Members of Catawba Valley Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society recently attended the annual Regional Convention held in Clemmons, N.C.  The chapter brought home seven awards, including most improved chapter out of 84 chapters in the region.
The chapter awards include:
•    Distinguished College Project Honorable Mention for the “Commit to Complete” a college degree campaign last spring.
•    Best Web Site Honorable Mention.
•    Outstanding Participation in the Carolinas Region Honors in Action Program for work with the Oddie Cares Foundation at Thanksgiving.
•    Outstanding Participation in the Carolinas Region Service Project for the Back to School Drive in collaboration with CVCC's Circle K Club.
•    Carolinas Super Star
•    Most Improved Chapter
•    Five Star Level in the Chapter Development Plan

Service projects pursued this past year by CVCC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter include Stop Hunger Now, CVCC CRU’s Run of the Mill, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, March of Dimes March for Babies, Salvation Army Angel Tree, and the Bucs Cupboard pantry for hungry students.
