Kauffman Foundation Names CVCC to Pilot Entrepreneur Program

An innovative program, created and proven in a community college in northeastern Ohio, is hitting the road to help schools and the communities they serve to launch and grow technology-based startups. Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, N.C., will be one of those colleges to take it national.

It started last June when the Kauffman Foundation announced a $1 million grant to Lorain County Community College Foundation, located in Northeast Ohio, to replicate its Innovation Fund model. That program connects entrepreneurs to mentorship, education and capital. With the Kauffman grant, the project will go national as “Innovation Fund America” and begin pilots at three community colleges around the country. Catawba Valley Community College was named one of those three pilot colleges Thurs., Jan. 31.
