Cyber Security Awareness Session Oct. 24

Catawba Valley Community College’s Information Systems Security Club is celebrating National Cyber Security Awareness Month this October by offering a free session on ways to stay safe in the cyber world.

The club invites the community to attend “Staying Safe in the Cyber World” Wed., Oct. 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in West Wing 117 on the Main Campus on Highway 70 SE in Hickory.

Parents, teachers and others are invited to learn more about safety measures to take while surfing the Web. Topics include strong passwords, how to deal with popups, risks of opening attachments and software updates. Session leaders will review free tools to protect your computer.
