Keller & White Complete NC Student Leadership Development Program
Donna Keller of Hildebran and Dillon White of Taylorsville recently completed the Student Leadership Development Program at William Peace University, formerly Peace College, in Raleigh.
Only 30 students from the state's 58 community colleges were selected by state community college officials for this year’s program sponsored by the N.C. Association of Community College Presidents and by the N.C. Community College System.
This prestigious leadership program included:
• Personality types; leadership styles.
• Decision making; team building; workshop building.
• How to work with others to complete a task.
• Time management; conflict resolution; ethics in leadership.
• How to delegate responsibilities successfully.
• How to be a leader worth following.
• Networking to achieve a goal; and effective communications.
The son of Westley and Pamela White of Taylorsville and graduate of Alexander Central High School, White completed an associate degree in science at CVCC last spring. He is enrolled in CVCC’s nursing associate degree program. He received the 2012 Academic Excellence Award from the N.C. Community College System and is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. He completed the CVCC Student Leadership Academy last year and works as a peer tutor in the Learning Assistance Center.
Keller is enrolled in the Associate in Applied Science Accounting degree and plans to graduate next May. The daughter of Ruby Rector and the late Charles Rector of Connelly Springs, she is a graduate of East Burke High School. She was employed with Boyles Furniture for 10 years as an accounts receivable manager and special projects coordinator until she was laid off in 2010.
She has earned two career certificates at CVCC: Business Administration and Microsoft Certified Application Specialist. An honors student, she served as a graduation marshal last spring, is a member of Business Leaders of Tomorrow Club and Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. She serves as a Peer Mentor in the college’s Learning Assistance Center and is a graduate of CVCC’s 2012 Student Leadership Academy. She and her husband, Earl, have two children and live in Hildebran.
