Career & College Promise Info Session March 19

Catawba Valley Community College invites parents or guardians of current high school sophomores and juniors to an information session about the college’s Career & College Promise program on Mon., March 19, at 6 p.m. The session will be held in the Cuyler A. Dunbar Bldg., in room 582 on the fifth floor.

Career & College Promise offers qualified North Carolina high school students the option to earn college credits tuition free. Students can begin their two- or four-year college work while they are in high school allowing them to get a head start on their workplace and college preparation.

The information session will help parents and guardians learn more about how their child can qualify, the different academic credits students may earn and the academic expectations of students in a college environment.

Career & College Promise is tuition free to N.C. students who maintain a “B” average and meet other eligibility requirements. Career & College Promise is Gov. Bev Perdue’s commitment to helping every qualified student gain access to an affordable college education and is ready for a career or college after high school. Students can earn college credit completely transferrable to all UNC system institutions and many N.C. independent colleges and universities. Students can also earn a credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career. For more details on state eligibility standards, visit
