Daube Named Basic Skills Instructor of the Year


Amy Daube, an instructor in the Basic Skills Education/English as a Second Language Program, was recently named Basic Skills Instructor of the Year by her colleagues.

Daube started teaching English as a Second Language part time in 1996.  She has worked with students from all over the globe and of all learning levels. Originally from Illinois, she began teaching ESL in 1982.

She was instrumental in adopting CVCC’s English literacy civics course for ESL students. The course includes class visits to key community service areas, including libraries, banks, post offices, hospitals and fire departments. She also served as project manager for the Project Ideal distance learning program for ESL.

Daube and her husband have three children and live in Hickory.
