Shuford Fed. Credit Union Presents Scholarships
Three Catawba Valley Community College students recently received a scholarship from Shuford Federal Credit Union through the CVCC Foundation, Inc.
Abigail L. Dellinger of Maiden, Ryan E. Hatch of Conover and Justin D. Greer of Granite Falls each received a $1,000 scholarship.
To be eligible, students must possess the potential for a successful college career, exhibit a desire for academic excellence in his/her chosen field and exhibit academic achievement and financial need. Recipient must also have a grade point average of at least 2.75 at the end of the first semester in college to continue to receive the scholarship.
Dellinger recently completed her first year of academic work at CVCC toward an associate degree in Early Childhood Education. After graduating from CVCC, she plans to complete a bachelor’s degree in teaching. She is the daughter of Sam and Sherry Dellinger and graduated from the Dellinger Academy.
Hatch plans to pursue a career in federal law enforcement. A graduate of Newton-Conover High School, he is completing an associate degree in college transfer studies at CVCC. He plans to transfer to Appalachian State University or East Carolina University where he intends to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. After graduation, he has committed to the U.S. Marine Corp and will enter basic training at Quantico. He is the son of Ralph and Patricia Hatch.
Greer’s career plans include multinational hospitality and tourism. A graduate of Hibriten High School in Lenoir, he is working toward an associate degree in college transfer studies at CVCC. He has enjoyed extensive international travel and hopes to combine those experiences with a bachelor’s degree in international business and ultimately obtain a doctorate in the field of business. He is the son of Brenda and Danny Greer of Lenoir.
Shuford Federal Credit Union was formed August 27, 1967, as a non-profit financial co-operative owned by its members and offers a full range of financial products and services.
