Polk Co. High's Russell Signs with Lady Bucs

Catawba Valley Community College looks forward to another successful fall season in the Carolina’s Virginia Conference as the Buccaneers sign a dominating six foot middle blocker.

Kailey Russell of Polk County High School in Columbus, NC, signed April 1 to play volleyball this fall at CVCC.

Russell is the daughter of Keith and Tami Russell and is planning to complete an associate degree. She is an active member of Polk County High’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club and Future Farmers of America.

CVCC Head Coach Shannon Hudson is excited to add Kailey to the Lady Buccaneer’s line-up for this fall.  “Kailey is quick on the block and an aggressive attacker who moves to the ball well. She is a team player who will make an immediate impact for the Lady Bucs.”

Russell helped lead the Lady Wolverines of PCHS to the fifth round of play-offs this year, winning the district championship on the way and tying for first in the Western Highlands Conference. She was named All Conference Player for the 2010 fall season.

Coach Hudson comments, “I am looking forward to coaching Kailey this fall.  She is such a versatile and athletic player who will make her mark on NJCAA volleyball in a powerful way.”
