Learn Business Startup FastTrac Way; Sign Up by Feb. 23

Need fertile ground to plant your business idea? Catawba Valley Community College’s Small Business Center will provide the opportunity by offering the Kaufmann FastTrac New Venture program for startups and business owner-entrepreneurs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tues., March 1 to May 17 at CVCC’s East Campus.

The deadline to apply for admission is Wed., Feb. 23.

Whether you’re a startup or a young company already in business, the planning process for launching a new product or service is essentially the same. You need to test the viability of the concept, match products and services to existing and new markets, identify and reach target customers, plan to man the operation, set and reach financial goals.

During this innovative program, student companies will be teamed with their counterparts for core activities. For other activities, the two groups will be co-mingled so that startups can draw on the experience of business owners and business owners can view their ideas from fresh perspectives. Two facilitators will be on hand to ensure that the program accommodates the learning needs of both groups.

This year the bulk of the program’s cost has been underwritten by local businesses, so the only cost to participants is $125, which includes the Entrepreneur Manual and access to on-line business and financial templates.

Space is limited.  The deadline to apply for admission is Wed., Feb. 23.  For more information, contact the Small Business Center, 828-327-7000, ext. 4117. Visit for the course list.
